Artist’s Statement
In Irish Cearnogá translates to the English word “squares.” Square is certainly where these compositions start, but like the Irish word, they imply more. Think of a square as a meeting place, like a village square, or a site of gathering. This would be closer to my sense of the title of this series of paintings. These works are acrylic on canvas, unique from the other series in my Irish suite, which are shaped panels.
