Interludes

Interludes

Interludes, these collages are just that, an interlude between the large paintings and the constructions both large and small that have been the main focus of my recent activities. I had been thinking about some of the early Constructivist artists and how some of them managed to move towards the Bauhaus aesthetic. Not an abandoned move away from earlier works but a deepening of the Constructivist agenda. Artists like El Lizitsky and Moholy-Nagy have always been an inspiration to me. I like the way in which they could move easily between graphics to constructions to paintings to industrial applications. That lack of borders and openness to new materials and forms is a practice I try to emulate.
